At Mental Edge Psychiatry, your mental well-being is the priority of Dr Beau Harman. A Brisbane native, Dr Harman's medical journey took him to the Gold Coast for his medical degree at Griffith University and then across regional Queensland for psychiatry training in Mackay and the Fraser Coast. This regional focus, combined with a broader life experience that includes two years living in Japan, informs his inclusive and adaptable approach to patient care in Hervey Bay. Dr Harman's expertise encompasses acute psychiatric care, with a particular passion for psychotherapy and the specific needs of individuals with neurodevelopmental disorders. Beyond the clinic, he enjoys staying active through sports, spending time with his family, and relaxed evenings gaming with friends.

Dr George Wong came to psychiatry by an indirect route: seven years of schooling in England, then a decade in Australia for medical school and specialist training, with two years along the way spent on published research into a cardiac medication in diabetes. He is a consultant psychiatrist with the acute mental health service in Hervey Bay, and that acute-care grounding shapes how he works in private practice - thorough assessment, clear explanation, and a plan the patient actually understands. He sees adults across the broad range of general psychiatry, including mood and anxiety disorders, psychotic illness, trauma-related presentations and neurodevelopmental conditions. His interest is in understanding a person beyond their diagnosis, giving as much weight to the social, psychological and cultural context of a presentation as to its symptoms. He consults in English, Mandarin, Cantonese and Japanese, and is comfortable working with patients from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. A committed teacher, he supervises junior doctors and still teaches medical students in his own time. Outside the clinic he is a keen cook, a former competitive fencer, and a long-time traveller to Japan with an abiding interest in its history and culture.
